Four things to remove from your résumé immediately #creatorsearchinsights #resume #wfh #remotejob #workfromhome
Transcript
Remove these four things from your resume because they quietly trigger an unconscious bias. And what is an unconscious bias? The assumption people make about you without even realising it. You do it, I do it, we all do it. Number one is your photo. Take it off. Nobody needs to see what you look like. It doesn't have any bearing on the job that you can do. Unless you're applying to be a model. Your home address. Just state your city and state. Nobody needs to know exactly where you live because that could cause a neighbourhood bias. Graduation years. Drop the dates your degree gets verified anyways. And number four is age revealing dates. Age bias is real both ways. Remove old grad dates and years so nobody's guessing as to how old you are. Once your resume is cleaned up, run it through respass dot com. It tailors it to each job. Make sure it's a T S friendly so that your resume can actually get seen. And my recommendation is go to curherm dot i o. It pulls jobs directly from company websites. There's a lot less competition on the big job boards cause the market is already brutal you guys, so don't make it harder on yourself now. Careerhound is a paid site, but they do have a free preview and I would suggest checking them out.
