This resume got rejected for 9 months, while this resume for the same exact person got multiple interviews within two weeks and a job offer within 60 days. And I'm gonna show you the three reasons why. So the first reason has to do with the professional summary. This after version has a much shorter summary because that avoids pushing down the work experience, which is the most important part of the resume that recruiters and hiring managers are going to focus on. There's no need to add this much detail. Keep it to two to three sentences max. The next key change has to do with the experience section. This version has a total of five different jobs, the oldest job going back to 2011. This after version works much better because it only lists the three most recent roles that are senior and most relevant to the roles that they were targeting. In this case, the older roles were still included on the resume under an additional work experience section without bullet points. That approach is optional, you can just leave that off. But most important thing to take away is that you wanna expand on your most recent and relevant roles. And another change to note was to the skill section. You can see here that the after version has a much more extensive skill section categorised into three different categories. And this is really helpful, especially now that most companies are using applicant tracking systems to Scan resumes and are looking for keywords that match the job posting.
