who can guess what salary we settled on ?? #Salary #negotiation #jobmarket #interviewtips
Transcript
Yes, well to be honest I'm not currently concerned about salary figures because my decision will solely rely on the fact that this is the right path for my career. That said though, when I did auto-apply on Sprout, I noticed that it said 70k to 95k versus LinkedIn it did say that it was 60k to 80k and since Sprout tailors each application to the specific role, I actually just wanted to know which one is more accurate and what would the budget be for someone with my experience within that range. Yeah, so Sprout is more accurate. We still need to update that LinkedIn job description. Someone with your experience would be around the lower end of that range to start, but we do offer 10% salary bumps each year, so there's a lot of high growth opportunities. Okay, thank you.

AU transplant
yes
Transplant note
Already an Australian account and the numbers quoted (70k-95k vs 60k-80k, 10% annual bumps) read as AUD bands that an AU audience recognises. The mechanism - citing two conflicting posted ranges and asking which is accurate and where someone with your experience sits - transplants directly to an internationally-trained candidate negotiating a first corporate role. Only change: the third-party auto-apply tool 'Sprout' would need to be dropped or replaced with the actual job board (Seek/LinkedIn), and the roleplay should account for candidates negotiating on a temporary visa.
Brand fit note
Structure is strong for Ark: cold open, no preamble, real mechanism (use the discrepancy between two posted ranges as a legitimate reason to ask for the budget), and it hits the cost-accounting rule with concrete figures. Two problems. First, it is effectively a placement for a paid third-party auto-apply product ('when I did auto-apply on Sprout'), which the brief flags as a with_changes trigger and which also contradicts Ark's anti-volume, positioning-first stance. Second, the opening line 'I'm not currently concerned about salary figures because my decision will solely rely on... the right path for my career' is exactly the sentence a generic career coach would write - soft, hedging, and it would fail the 'could a career coach have written this' check. Rebuild as: name the belief ('you think naming your number first loses you money'), then the mechanism, then the numbers, with the candidate line rewritten blunt and short.
