Countries with paid leave: Mexico, Canada, Russia, India, China, Vietnam, Poland, etc etc forever Countries without paid maternity leave: United States of America and Papa New Guinea 🫠 While individual states and companies have paid leave programs, and we have things like FMLA and SDTI, there is currently no federal policy of any kind providing new parents with paid leave. This means the most vulnerable families suffer the most. 😢 I’m so tired of seeing my friends + followers stress about going back to work asap just so they can provide for their new baby. This just doesn’t happen in other countries 🤷🏼‍♀️ The ironic thing is that as a business owner, this wouldn't even benefit me lol. As a childless business owner, I paid family leave taxes in the state of New York for years! And I was happy to do it. Taxes should be used to benefit the people 😎 SO many women/moms are self-employed/contractors as well, so they’re often shut out of existing paid leave programs. Paid family leave benefits everyone — surely the greatest country on earth can figure out this conundrum!?
