I recruited SDEs at Google for 3 years, and these 3 CV mistakes will get you rejected within seconds. 1/ Choosing to hide your CGPA. Look, I get it. Maybe it’s not a perfect 4.0. But when you completely leave your GPA off your resume, recruiters automatically assume it’s way worse than it actually is. If you’re a student or recent grad, just put it on there. Leaving a blank space just looks suspicious and raises immediate red flags. 2/ Complicated resumes where you list 20+ tech skills, but your actual experience and internships match none of them. Please stop doing this. Listing Docker, Kubernetes, Rust, and Go when your only internship was manual QA or a basic HTML page is an instant rejection. Recruiters see right through keyword stuffing. If you can’t point to a project or work experience on your CV that actually used that skill, take it off. 3/ Missing out on adding your DSA profiles. You are applying for a software engineering role. Why are your LeetCode, Codeforces, or GitHub profiles missing from your header? If you don’t link your active coding profiles, you’re making recruiters guess if you can actually pass a technical screen. Spoiler: they won’t guess, they’ll just move on to the next candidate who made it easy for them. Fix these three things tonight. Let me know in the comments if you’re guilty of any of these.
