I had debilitating interview nerves for 10 years. I avoided things that involved an interview or evaluation because I found it so terrifying Over time I was able to squash that fear using a framework I created called PAD. ๐1. P - Prepare. Any evaluation is a skill, so learn the skill of that evaluation. Such as learn how to interview (such as using my YouTube channel & taking my free Unshakable Interviews Masterclass - linked in my bio) ๐2. A - Adjust. Reframe the way you view interviewing. So I saw interviews as a judgment fest, where they were tearing me apart. And so I adjusted my framing of that. A lot of us see interviews as antagonistic. We need to rewrite those voices. Some reframing sounded like, โThis is like a meeting with a future coworker.โ โThey want me to get this job. They want this interview process to end. They saw something in me.โ So just whatever phrases you need to say to yourself that reframe the situation in a way that helps you. ๐3. D - Desensitize. You need to start putting yourself in stressful situations that bring up the same stress response as an interview and practice your interviewing. So you could practice in a public place where other people can hear you, which can feel embarrassing, but help you to overcome your nerves. Or even simply recording yourself can bring up nerves too. Try these strategies this week! And be sure to attend the Unshakable Interviews Masterclass to master this skill (linked in my bio)
