A lot of people think that simply going out to get your moxy, telehandler, or roller tickets is enough to get you over the line for a FIFO role. The reality is, if you don't have any actual operating experience yet, breaking into the mining industry can be quite hard. Unless you happen to know a site superintendent who can get you on, finding a direct entry-level operating role with just tickets is rare. If you are stuck in this position, we always recommend a two-part plan to build your resume. The first option is to look for local civil jobs. Operating mobile plant machinery locally allows you to gain the crucial hands-on experience you need to successfully apply for mining jobs later on. Alternatively, you can look at getting your foot in the door through another entry-level position entirely. If you want to know how to execute this strategy and land your first mining role, we can help you map out the right path. Looking for FIFO opportunities?
