What do many people do wrong when sending a thank you email after an interview? They make the thank you email about themselves. They’ll say, “To reiterate, here’s what makes me great. X, Y, and Z.” And that’s actually not what a thank you email is about. Let’s not forget what thank you means. Thank you is about the other person. You are continuing to build the relationship. So your entire email should be focused on them. Something along the lines of: “It was great to meet you. I enjoyed hearing about X, particulatly Z. And here is a link to the thing we were talking about that may be helpful for you [link]. I am interested in continuing the conversation!” So focus on continuing to build the relationship instead of further promoting yourself! PS - If you want the set of email templates that get companies to respond to you, I’ll link them in my bio! No more getting ghosted after the interview.
