Transcript
Yeah, your life changed completely from a career perspective. Tell us where you were before you decided you were gonna change your career do something else. Um, I was working as a youth worker, um, working all hours weekends, weekdays, weekends, nights every time outside of the stresses that comes with the job itself. Yeah, right. My car was destroyed by a young person I was supporting literally destroyed. Yes, I, we had to write it off literally they wrote it off and they picked up my car because he, he was just upset and banged it onto my dashboard cracked and they couldn't fix it. Okay. Yeah, it, it was a lot ha ha ha ha ha. So let's help me understand that feeling exactly. Stepping out and just looking at your car destroyed, did you feel like your life was in danger? Because at that point I'm thinking, oh, 100% life in danger. I had to get out of my car walk away and run away call the police. Um, coz I just couldn't de escalate it and it was just getting out of hand. And to be honest, this is the life of many people who support young people and it's just again, someone has to do that job. It just wasn't for me. Like most immigrants when you move to Australia, you get a few advices from a lot of people either getting to age care, disability or youth care, which don't get me wrong, it's Not like it's a bad job in itself, but compared to the kind of education that I came from, I had a degree. I, I was very smart. I finished with a sec first class. Just didn't feel fulfilling at the time. It was too tiring, driving hours to, to do work that I just wasn't happy doing. Right. And I had all this experience, all this knowledge that I was confident that I could translate into work here, but it felt like a big block up. Yeah. And I just scrolled on TikTok like everybody does. I found safe skills like everybody does, except I pause and I decided to reach out. Mm. And that changed my life forever. I was very skeptical, of course, like most people are. Yeah. Ha ha. And then I decided, you know what, I'm going, I'm going to do this in a matter of like three months, right from the moment that I saw that TikTok up until, um, when I first got my, that, that, that, uh, offer letter, it's just, it felt like a dream. Tina, tell us, what does life look like right now working as a business analyst? You're delivering value. You're getting a lot of accolades compared to before. Like so different. First of all, one of the biggest differences, I wake up on Saturday morning and I don't have anything to do. Like, I don't need to be in a hurry to do, go anywhere. I wake up on Sunday morning same. So we plan our weekends around either catching up with friends hanging out we have we have dinners every now and then meet up for brunch what not. And on top of that, we can think of other things what I mean by that is if we wanna start a business, we actually have capacity to do that have a nap. It's basic bedroom. Yeah, we have the bedroom we have the time, you know, and I work from home also. So there's that flexibility about 90% of the time, which I am very grateful for. Um, and I don't need to be anywhere. I don't need I'm not in a rush. That's the best way I can describe it right? I'm never in a rush to be anywhere, which before was not the case. I was moving from that shit on a drive to that shit come home, sleep eat cook next one. Always in the shape that was me here. That was a lie. Oh yeah, that was the that was the lie always in that rap race, which is not the case at all. I could, you know, you could be it's just it's it's amazing. Oh ha. If you wanted to introduce yourself, what does that introduction look like? Tell us. Hello everyone. I'm a senior business analyst. Hey, a proud techstar. Okay. And I'm just an enthusiast about Making sure that you take a chance on yourself and you give everything you hear and hear a go. So do that now. Thank you so much.
