Your 1:1 with your boss should NOT just be a status update. 🚨 If you’re spending the entire meeting telling your boss what you’ve been working on, you’re missing a HUGE opportunity to advance your career. Your 1:1 is your chance to build visibility, demonstrate leadership, and position yourself for your next promotion. Here are 5 things you should be saying instead: 👇 1️⃣ Instead of: “Here’s everything I’ve been working on.” Say: “Here are the three biggest wins I’ve had this week and the impact they’ve made on the team.” 2️⃣ Instead of: “Do you have any feedback for me?” Say: “What’s one thing I could start doing differently to operate at the next level?” 3️⃣ Instead of: “I’m really busy.” Say: “Here are my current priorities. Can we align on which will have the biggest business impact?” 4️⃣ Instead of: “I’d love to get promoted someday.” Say: “I’d like to work toward the next level. What specific skills, experiences, or results would you need to see from me?” 5️⃣ Instead of: “That’s all I have!” Say: “What’s keeping you up at night right now, and how can I help?” 👏 Your boss shouldn’t leave your 1:1 just knowing what you DID. They should leave knowing the VALUE you bring, the PROBLEMS you solve, and the POTENTIAL you have. Because the people who get promoted aren’t always the ones doing the most work. They’re the ones who know how to communicate their impact. 💬 Comment “Communication” and I’ll send you my FREE guide to help you communicate more confidently and strategically at work! #CareerGrowth #WorkplaceCommunication #CareerAdvice #GetPromoted #CorporateCareer
