I don't think I realized I was building a career while I was living any of this. At 18, I was earning around ₦20,000 a month as a secretary. Around 20, I had a little typing and printing kiosk where I charged ₦100 for typing and ₦150 for typing + printing. Then came remote work. Then my first $10 on Upwork. Then came projects that taught me to negotiate, learn new skills, and sometimes realize that the job title you were hired for is very different from the work you actually end up doing. Looking back, the interesting part isn't even the increase in what I earned. It's how much of what I learned in one season followed me into the next. Some jobs gave me good managers. Some gave me new skills. Some taught me what I didn't want to do. Some taught me to speak up. And some simply gave me the confidence to try the next thing. None of it felt like a master career plan at the time. What's a job that taught you more than it paid you? #CareerJourney #RemoteWork #Freelancing #CareerGrowth
