When I came to Canada as an international student, my definition of success was simple: Get a good job. Earn more money. Build a better life. My first software engineering job paid around $60K/year. A few years later, after building new skills, changing roles, and growing my career, my compensation increased significantly (as mentioned in my previous reels). And that's when I almost fell into a trap. I started thinking: "Now I can afford a nicer car." "Now I can upgrade my lifestyle." "Now I can spend more because I earn more." But I had to remind myself of what I really wanted in life - Financial Freedom. And a higher salary doesn't automatically create wealth. The difference between a high earner and a wealthy person is what happens after the money arrives. Instead of letting my expenses grow with my income, I focused on: ✅ Increasing my investments ✅ Building assets ✅ Keeping my biggest expenses under control ✅ Continuing to grow my skills and career The biggest advantage of a higher income isn't buying more things. It's having more money left over to buy freedom. A raise can change your lifestyle. Or it can change your future. The choice is yours.
