1. Introduce yourself properly - don’t wait for people to come to you. Learn who’s on the team and what they do. 2. Set up 1:1s with key stakeholders - especially your manager, teammates, and people you’ll work with frequently. 3. Understand the team’s goals - know what the team is responsible for and how your role contributes. 4. Learn the team’s communication style - Slack/Teams, email, meetings, documentation, etc. 5. Ask how your manager likes to work - preferred communication, frequency of updates, feedback style, and expectations. 6. Take notes on EVERYTHING initially - processes, acronyms, systems, people, instructions, and questions. 7. Create your own “new job” document - keep important links, processes, contacts, FAQs, and lessons learned in one place. 8. Document every task and outcome - especially projects you contribute to, decisions you make, and measurable results. 9. Learn the unwritten rules - how decisions are made, who to approach for what, and what the team values. 10. Ask questions early - don’t spend hours struggling with something you could clarify in 5 minutes. 11. Before asking a question, try to find the answer - check documentation, previous messages, and existing resources first. 12. Understand the tools and systems - get access early and learn the platforms your team relies on. 13. Find the subject-matter experts - identify the people everyone goes to when they need help. 14. Understand your priorities - clarify what is urgent, what can wait, and what success looks like in your first 30/60/90 days. 15. Look for quick wins - find something small you can improve or take ownership of early. Transplant note
The structure — a numbered 'first 30 days in the role' checklist (introduce yourself, book 1:1s with manager and stakeholders, learn team goals, learn comms norms) — transplants directly to an Australian corporate audience; nothing in it is country-specific. For an internationally-trained audience it would need the AU workplace layer: how meeting culture, Teams/Slack informality and direct manager access differ from what people are used to, and what 'contribution' looks like in the first review cycle. The transcript itself is effectively missing ('Change is'), so only the caption carries the structure.
Brand fit note
Structure is usable but the substance is generic-career-coach filler — every line ('set up 1:1s with key stakeholders', 'understand the team's goals') would survive being said by a LinkedIn career coach, which the voice doc says to cut on sight. No numbers anywhere, failing the cost-accounting check and the 'is there at least one number?' ship check. No mechanism, just prescriptions. To ship it Ark would need to subdivide (what kind of 1:1 with what kind of stakeholder, and what a migrant professional specifically gets wrong in the first 30 days), attach counts and time ('four 1:1s in week one, 20 minutes each'), and point contempt at the systems that never taught this rather than at the reader.
