1. Made a 30-60-90 day roadmap * First 30: learn the team, systems, expectations & people. * 60: start owning projects and solving problems independently. * 90: have measurable wins you can actually talk about. 2. Started documenting my wins from Day 1 * Keep a simple “brag document” with projects, positive feedback, metrics, problems you solved and responsibilities you took on. * This becomes gold for performance reviews, promotions and interviews. 3. Built relationships before I needed them * Don’t only network when you’re job hunting. * Get to know people across your team, adjacent teams and leadership **before** you need a referral or opportunity. 4. Asked better questions instead of trying to look smart * Early on, I worried that asking questions would make me look inexperienced. * The better approach: research first, then ask thoughtful questions that show you’ve already tried to solve the problem. 5. Learned how the business actually makes money * Understanding the company’s customers, revenue drivers, KPIs and biggest business problems makes you stand out much faster than simply being good at your assigned tasks.
