Job searching after 40 with the same strategy you used in your 20s or 30s can make an already tough job market even harder. The market changed. Your approach has to catch up. 💼 Here are my top 3 rules for anyone job searching after 40: No. 1 — Strip unnecessary age indicators from your résumé. Remove graduation dates unless they’re specifically relevant, focus your work history on the most recent 10–15 years, and update outdated terminology with current industry language. You don’t need to make it easy for a hiring manager to guess your age before they’ve even looked at what you can do. No. 2 — Lead with recent, measurable impact. The first bullet under each role should highlight a recent win, ideally with a number attached. Show that you’re contributing at a high level right now — not just relying on something you accomplished in 2008. No. 3 — Apply where the crowd isn’t. This is the one people don’t talk about enough. On major job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed, some roles can attract hundreds of applicants very quickly, and some listings may be stale or duplicated. So look beyond the biggest job boards and apply directly through company career pages whenever possible. I recommend CareerHound.io because it pulls jobs directly from company career pages, which can help you find opportunities closer to the source and apply earlier — before the applicant pile gets huge. Your age isn’t the problem. Outdated positioning can be. 🎯 Save this and send it to someone who needs to hear it. CareerHound.io is a paid tool, but it’s free to preview. #creatorsearchinsights #wfh #jobsearch #remotejobs #remotejob
