Follow @ananyamentors for job search & career/networking advice! 1. Talk to people before you need something Don’t wait until you need a referral, job, or favour to reach out. 2. Ask better questions Instead of “Can you refer me?”, ask about their career path, decisions, skills, or lessons learned. 3. Follow up within 24–48 hours A simple message after meeting someone makes you much more memorable. 4. Keep a “network tracker” Note who you met, where you met them, what they do, and anything personal/professional they mentioned. 5. Share useful things without being asked Send an article, job posting, resource, introduction, or idea that genuinely relates to them. 6. Make introductions between people Becoming the person who connects two people who can help each other makes you valuable to a network. 7. Celebrate other people’s wins Congratulate promotions, new jobs, certifications, launches, and milestones - without immediately asking for anything. 8. Stay visible online Comment thoughtfully on people’s posts, share what you’re learning, and let your network know what you’re working on. 9. Reconnect before the relationship goes cold You don’t need to talk every week. A thoughtful check-in every few months can maintain a strong connection. 10. Give before you ask Ask yourself: *“What can I bring to this relationship?”* rather than only “What can this person do for me?” Follow @ananyamentors for more job search & career tips!
