One of the biggest mistakes you can make with a bad boss? Matching their energy. 😬 You don’t need to be aggressive. You don’t need to be passive. And you definitely don’t need to say everything you’re thinking. You need to be kind AND clear. Instead of: “That’s not my job.” Try: “I’m happy to help. Which of my current priorities would you like me to deprioritize to make room for this?” Instead of silently accepting credit-stealing: Try: “I’d love to walk the team through the work I led and share some of the key findings.” Instead of getting defensive about unfair feedback: Try: “Can you give me a specific example and clarify what you’d like to see from me going forward?” Professional. Calm. Clear. Documented. 👏 And BONUS POINTS: build relationships with other leaders. Because one of the best forms of career protection is having credible people in the organization who know your work, understand your impact, and are willing to advocate for you when you’re not in the room. You can’t always control your boss. But you CAN control your communication, your visibility, and who knows the value you bring. 👇 Comment “Community” to join the play the game community and get real life advice and coaching to help with your work life. #BadBoss #ManagingUp #CareerAdvice #CorporatePolitics #WorkplaceCommunication
