No Australian experience ≠ automatic rejection. A candidate recently reached out to me on LinkedIn after applying for a role I was recruiting for. She didn’t have local experience — but she did have relevant experience. Her message made me go back, reopen her application and look at it properly. That doesn’t mean messaging a recruiter guarantees an interview. But it does mean this: Stop assuming “no local experience” is the reason for every rejection. Sometimes the experience is there.
