Most people don’t have a referral problem. They have a networking strategy problem. If you find a job you really want, don’t message ONE random employee asking: “Can you refer me?” ❌ Instead: → Find 5–10 relevant people at the company → Start with alumni or shared connections → Look for people from the same past company → Connect with people in your target team → Identify the potential hiring manager → Personalize your message with something genuinely common → Mention the specific role + Job ID → Explain briefly why you’re a fit → Ask respectfully, not desperately → Follow up once and respect their time And please don’t ask: ❌ “Are there any jobs in your company?” ❌ “Can you help me get a job?” ❌ “Can you check my profile and suggest openings?” Do your research first. Make it easy for someone to help you. A referral doesn’t guarantee an interview, but a strong networking strategy can help you build the right relationships and improve your visibility. Comment “REFER” and I’ll send you my full referral strategy + who to target + how to approach them + copy-paste connection, referral & follow-up messages.
