Of course, if you are not a surgeon, do not operate on people! But yeah, your degree shouldn’t limit nor limit you. #careeradvice #phdtok #university

Whatever your degree is, I need you to think bigger. I have a video that is going semi viral right now. Well, at least viral to me. And people completely misunderstood what I said in that video. And it's both hilarious and sad because it tells me that educational systems have successfully told us that if you pursue this degree, then these are the only things that you can do with your life. And I buck against that, okay? You have to think bigger than what your degree is. You have to think bigger than what any, uh, counsellor at any school has ever told you you could possibly do. I've had the privilege of interviewing close to 150 P H DS for my podcast, for my books, okay? And these people have used their degrees in diverse ways. Sometimes you'll hear somebody say, I have a P H D. In sociology, but now I work with a hospital system recruiting, um, residents for residency, like, for medicals. Like, they work with people coming out of medical school to recruit them to be residents for a particular program. Like, it's crazy what you can do with your degree. Please, please don't allow somebody with old paradigms to be telling you that just because you have a B C. Degree, you can only do these three things with your life.

Transplant note
The core subject — a foreign or 'wrong' degree not dictating the role you can take — transfers directly to an internationally-trained reader in Australia whose overseas qualification is being discounted. What would need changing: the PhD/podcast framing and the North American 'counsellor at any school' reference, plus the sociology-to-residency-recruiting example, which is a US medical-residency system with no Australian equivalent. Rebuild the example as an overseas commerce or data degree mapping to a specific Australian sub-role.
Brand fit note
Structurally close to the voice: contempt is pointed outward at the education system, never at the viewer, which satisfies the empathy-pivot rule. But it is all encouragement and no mechanism — 'think bigger' is exactly the sentence a generic career coach could publish unchanged, which the pre-ship check says to cut. It also has only one soft number ('close to 150 PhDs'), self-reported and unverifiable, which would trip the unverified-outcome rule if borrowed. To ship: keep the 'your degree is not your ceiling' inversion, then replace the plea with subdivision teaching (which kind of analyst, which sub-role) and hard Australian salary bands.
