Thinking of switching your course? 👇 From 2 October 2026, if you hold a student VISA (500) and need another one, you mostly cannot apply for it from inside Australia any more. You can still apply here if you are moving up to a higher qualification, need up to 12 more months with the same provider, are starting a PhD, or your provider has shut down. There are a few other cases. Otherwise you would have to leave Australia and apply from outside.
