Networking conversations don’t have to feel desperate, transactional, or painfully awkward. In fact… they shouldn’t. The best networking doesn’t start with: “Can you help me get a job?” It starts with building a genuine connection. ☕ Make small talk and build rapport. 👏 Give a sincere compliment about their work, career path, or something they’ve accomplished. 💡 Ask for their advice instead of immediately asking for a favor. People generally enjoy helping people they like—and they especially enjoy sharing what they’ve learned. Your goal isn’t to walk away from every conversation with a referral. Your goal is to walk away having built a relationship. Because when opportunities come up later, you want to be someone they already know, like, trust, and remember.
