1️⃣ Identify your actual value, not your job Write down the five things coworkers actually pull you into a room for. Not “campaign manager” more like “I can untangle a chaotic timeline” or “I’m the one who talks the client off the ledge.” Job titles are just labels. The underlying skills are what actually move with you. Step 2️⃣ Decode the vocabulary of where you’re headed. Open up three job listings for the role you’re chasing and mark the words and phrases that show up over and over. Every industry dresses up the same core skills in different terminology. Step 3️⃣ Translate your skills into their language. Now merge the two lists. Take what you wrote in Step 1 and reframe it using the terms from Step 2. “I can untangle a chaotic timeline” becomes “cross-functional project management.” “I talk clients off the ledge” becomes “client relationship management under pressure.” All of a sudden your winding career path reads like intentional preparation, not a scattered resume. Step 4️⃣ Close the gap with free, personalized upskilling. Once you know the language of your target role, you’ll usually spot a skill or two you’re genuinely missing. This is where you go to Oboe and just explain your exact situation (your background, the role you want, and the specific gap) It will build you a free custom course on the spot to get you up to speed on exactly what you’re missing, and you can also generate custom podcasts!
