Here is how to ace an interview when you are going for a stretch job. It’s good to interview for jobs that are above your skill level! You can absolutely still win the role over more experienced candidates, but only if you employ this strategy. When you are the less experienced candidate, you need to focus more on the future and less on the past. Your competitors all have better experience in the past. You need to instead focus on why this is the right job for your future. What have you been learning? How you’ve been building your skills? And the thing that can really seal the deal is you studying that company, studying the job, the job description, asking really great questions in the interview and coming up with a 90 day plan. Where you’re saying, “If I was to get into this role, here is what I would do...” And they’re seeing now a picture of you in the future with them. Because a lot of job seekers focus way too much on the past and that is how you are getting beat out by right now by less experienced candidates. PS - I created an assessment that tells you the #1 thing that is getting in the way between you and a job offers, I’ll link it in my bio.
