Most people start networking after they see the job posting. That’s already late. By then, hundreds of people may have applied, the recruiter’s inbox is filling up, and you’re trying to become memorable at exactly the same time as everyone else. The better strategy? Build access before you need it. Choose your target companies. Map the people around your target role. Watch for hiring signals. Start conversations before the vacancy appears. Learn what the team actually needs. Then when the right role opens, you’re not approaching the company completely cold. You have context, information and potentially an internal advocate. That’s the point of networking. Not collecting 5,000 LinkedIn connections. Creating an advantage in the hiring process. Save this and send it to someone who keeps saying, “But I don’t know anybody in Canada.” And follow for practical strategies to get hired, reposition your experience and create more opportunities from the skills you already have. #networking #networkingtips #jobsearchtips #jobsearch
