While hitting that ‘Easy Apply’ button may seem like a good idea, it’s often a total waste of your time. These “easy apply” roles bring in high volumes of applications, often bring yours (which I am guessing isn’t tuned to THIS opportunity). In this job market you should deprioritize application processes that are “easy” and favor ones that are harder. For example, “easy apply” or any application that simply has you upload a resume often means high competition. Anyone who knows marketing understands this as “low friction.” “Low friction” = more leads (applicants in this case), “high friction” = fewer people, but higher quality. So applications that require you to answer essay questions, I KNOW you may find them annoying, but at least you know spending extra time on that application is more likely to work out than a simple app. AI has made it so that people are applying to more than 2x the number of jobs they did in 2023. Move away from generic, bulk, easy methods. Focus more on higher friction situations - especially relationship building to cut the line. I break down exactly how to do this in my free job shopping class. Link is in my bio!
