Transcript
The people that move up fastest in their career are not always the smartest workers, they're not always the hardest workers. They are individuals that make you feel a certain way when you are around them. I have spent 20+ years in my career across recruiting, talent, and executive leadership. I've sat in the meetings with executives where promotion decisions are made, and there is an absolute pattern to this executive presence. These individuals all have really amazing executive presence. And executive presence is not a personality trait. It is the way you make people feel when you are around them. It is exuding confidence, not arrogance. It's being able to take an organization that is going through rough waters and bring calm to the storm. It is the ability to build trust across organizations and a lot of times, trust with people that don't report directly to you. It's building a reputation for yourself that other people want to be around. Those are the personality patterns that get you promoted. Like it or not, this is a huge piece of why and how people move up very quickly in their career. This is executive presence. It is a learnable skill. It's not easy to learn. It is incredibly difficult to change communication patterns that you have had for a decade or longer, but it can be done. I would love to help you with that if you are interested in this, but I want you to be really thoughtful. About the brand that you are building for yourself. Do you exude in other people? Trust, calm, confidence, impact, etcetera. That's what you're looking for. Drop into the comments any questions you have, and certainly good luck out there.

Transplant note
Already an Australian creator, so no market translation needed, and the inversion ('not the smartest, not the hardest worker') is the exact shape Ark uses. But the subject is mid-to-senior promotion, and Ark's reader is in a survival job trying to get the first corporate role — the structure would have to be re-pointed at interview and first-90-days presence rather than executive promotion meetings, and at how an overseas-trained candidate is read as 'not senior enough' in Australian panels.
Brand fit note
The opening is a clean contrarian inversion and the 'insider in the promotion meeting' receipt is strong. Everything after it fails the voice checks: 'make you feel a certain way', 'bring calm to the storm', 'confidence, not arrogance' are abstractions, not a mechanism — the doc says never break the belief with encouragement, and this breaks it with vibes. Zero numbers except the self-reported '20+ years', so cost accounting is absent. The audience is also wrong tier for Ark (already employed, seeking promotion), and the CTA is a soft 'I would love to help you' rather than a mechanism. Usable only if rebuilt as subdivision teaching — which specific behaviours read as presence to an Australian hiring panel — with Australian salary bands attached. No Never-ships trips.
